Drukair Successfully Completes Its First Chartered Flight from Paro to Jakarta

On 7th October 2025, Drukair – Royal Bhutan Airlines – marked a new milestone by successfully operating its first chartered flight from Paro International Airport to Jakarta, Indonesia. The flight, designated as KB608, was operated using an Airbus A320-251N (neo), reflecting the airline’s continued commitment to expanding its regional connectivity and enhancing Bhutan’s aviation capabilities.

Departing from Paro, the flight took approximately 45 minutes to reach Siliguri, located in the Indian state of West Bengal, before continuing its journey across the Bay of Bengal towards Southeast Asia. The second leg, from Siliguri to Jakarta, lasted about 5 hours and 23 minutes, covering a total flight time of just over six hours.

This milestone flight symbolises Drukair’s growing role as a bridge between the Himalayan Kingdom and the wider region. The successful completion of the Paro–Jakarta charter not only showcases the airline’s operational proficiency but also highlights Bhutan’s increasing engagement with Southeast Asia in tourism, trade, and cultural exchange.

The Airbus A320neo aircraft, known for its improved fuel efficiency and reduced carbon emissions, was chosen for this mission to ensure a comfortable and environmentally conscious journey for passengers.

With this inaugural charter, Drukair has opened the door to new possibilities for future connections between Bhutan and Indonesia, paving the way for potential regular routes or special charter services that cater to tourism, business travel, and government cooperation.

As Bhutan continues to strengthen its international partnerships under the vision of sustainable growth and mindful development, this successful flight to Jakarta marks yet another step forward in connecting the Land of the Thunder Dragon to the rest of the world.
