Drukair to connect Guwahati to Singapore

Drukair, Royal Bhutan Airlines will launch its inaugural flight on 1st September 2018 for its new route from Guwahati to Singapore and vice versa. This new route will offer travelers from North East India and in particular travelers from the State of Assam non-stop flights to Singapore and back. This flight will be the only international flight that connects Paro via Guwahati to Singapore.

The launch of the new route by Drukair, Royal Bhutan Airlines is as per the existing Air Service Agreement signed between the two governments and the inaugural event is to celebrate the golden jubilee anniversary marking 50 years of Diplomatic Relations between Bhutan and India.

The announcement of this flight was made by Bhutan’s Foreign Minister Damcho Dorji during the inaugural opening of the office of the Royal Bhutanese Consulate General in Guwahati on 2nd February 2018 in the presence of the Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal and the Prime Minister of Bhutan, Dasho Tshering Tobgay.

From 29th September 2018, Drukair flight KB 540, will operate on Wednesday and Saturday departing Paro at 7:30 AM, arriving Guwahati at 7:55 AM, departing Guwahati at 8:35 AM and arriving its final destination, Singapore at 3:35 PM on the same day. KB 541 will depart on Thursday and Sunday from Singapore at 6:30 AM, arriving Guwahati at 8:30 AM, departing Guwahati at 9:10 AM and arriving its final destination Paro at 10:30 AM on the same day.

The new route is expected to greatly facilitate travel, trade and people to people exchanges among Bhutan, Assam and Singapore as well as with other North Eastern states of India, while providing passengers with a greater range of options. The new route will also contribute towards strengthening social, cultural and economic ties among Bhutan, India’s North Eastern states and Singapore.

Drukair currently operates two flights via Guwahati to Bangkok.
